JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Seek a highly motivated individual with significant experience in bioinformatics and biostatistics to join an interdisciplinary collaborative research group of highly successful investigators that span disciplines of biochemistry, neurology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, and neuroscience.
  • The candidate will work on NIH-funded and other projects analyzing proteomic and multi-omics data to uncover new insights into Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.
  • The candidate will help prepare scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigators.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Presentations will be expected in lab meetings.
  • Expected to keep meticulous records of his/her data analysis.
  • Responsible for backing up of scientific data.
  • Expected to teach others about analytic approaches when needed.
  • Salary will be commensurate with training and level of experience at the time of hire.
  • Applicants should submit: i) CV, ii) brief statement of research skills, experience, and future goals, and iii) a minimum of three references

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of experience in data analysis, statistics, or a related field, OR an equivalaent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrable experience analyzing -omics data
  • Proficiency in using R or Python, and Linux command line
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of mass spectrometry-based or other proteomics data acquisition and processing pipelines
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, or basic science discipline
  • Programming experience in Perl/Python or C/C++
  • Experience using version control (Git)
  • Experience using Amazon web services for distributed computing or a local cluster
  • Basic Linux system administration skills
  • Candidates with a Ph.D in computer science/bioinformatics with knowledge of biology and topics in proteomics, as well as candidates with Ph.D. in biochemistry or other basic science fields with expertise in computational/statistical techniques, are encouraged to apply.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
