The University of Chicago’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is searching for tenured or tenure track faculty members to join our interdisciplinary faculty. We seek applicants pursuing research that complements existing programs in addictions, serious mental illness, psychiatric genetics, eating disorders, developmental psychopathology, and health disparities. Our faculty conduct innovative basic, translational, and clinical research and secure high levels of NIH grant funding. We especially welcome applications from basic, translational, and applied clinical scientists who have demonstrated the capacity for, or success in, conducting impactful science, publishing research of high quality, and competing for external funding. Other duties will include teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level and supervision of students and trainees.

The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division.  The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within the compact campus in Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences.  Early career scientists will be mentored by senior faculty and have access to internal funding mechanisms.  Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available.  Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.
