Our Post-doctoral Program
At Alnylam, our Post-doctoral program’s goal is to create an environment of innovation and collaboration for early career researchers from academic institutions to answer fundamental scientific questions that can make a difference in the lives of patients. The program is designed to advance RNAi medicines through fresh perspectives and ideas from recent PhDs. About the Role
The CNS Research group seeks a highly motivated, creative, and talented Post-doctoral Scientist who is passionate about translating basic scientific research to drug discovery. As part of this position, you will be evaluating targeting brain-specific Stearoyl CoA Desaturase 5 using RNAi therapeutics as a treatment for Parkinson’s disease. This project is in collaboration with the labs of Dr. Ulf Dettmer and Dr. Saranna Fanning at the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases in the Department of Neurology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease. In addition, you will be able to bring your expertise and design your own research in collaboration with the many scientists in the CNS Research group, Bioinformatics, RNAi Lead Discovery, RNAi biology, Target Discovery and Clinical Development. It is expected that the research conducted by the Post-doctoral Scientist will result in multiple high impact publications and contribute to the Alnylam pipeline.

What Alnylam will provide:
• Post-doctoral Scientist positions are 2 years in length with the possibility to extend for a third year, or if successful, the option to transition into a Scientist position
• Post-doctoral Scientists will be provided necessary budgetary support and infrastructure to execute the projects

• A Ph.D. in neuroscience, molecular biology or a related biological field
• Excellent track record of publications, desirable in neurodegenerative diseases
• A preferred candidate will have experience in any of the following research areas: neuronal culture-based assays; confocal and/or high content imaging; viral vector technology; development of genetic animal models; rodent neuropathology and behavior; or molecular/cellular neurobiology
• Self-motivated and driven individual able to work both independently and in a team environment, taking responsibility for independent management of a project
• A detail-oriented researcher who keeps a clear grasp of the big picture
• Contribute to the generation of publications, presentations and intellectual property
• A team player who proactively shares knowledge and expertise with lab members
• Good documentation of all experimental procedures and results in compliance with Electronic Lab Notebook guidelines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Strong Interpersonal and organizational Skills
• If employed in the U.S., being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the Centers for Disease Control an Prevention (CDC) is required.
